Get to Know the People Behind GLF Steel

Martynas Skabickas – Managing Director

Martynas’ journey into fabrication began at an early age, inspired by his father, who was a welder. At just 20, he travelled with his father to Norway to work in shipbuilding, an experience that set the foundation for his career. Moving to the UK, Martynas took on roles as a factory foreman and an off-site installations supervisor, managing large teams for yacht glass and door installations. His expertise led him across the globe, including the UAE and beyond, overseeing complex product installations.

Andrew Shepherd – Production Manager

Andrew started his career in the marine industry as a 16-year-old apprentice in 1992. He worked for a major manufacturing company producing boat components such as doors, windows, sunroofs and screens, developing his expertise in stainless steel fabrication. He worked in various roles before meeting Martynas and Egidijus. Seeing what they could build together, he joined GLF Steel, and five years later, he’s helped develop a strong customer base and a reputation for excellence.

Jonas Petraitis – Polishing Supervisor

Jonas has been part of the GLF team since 2020, bringing with him a passion for fine details and craftsmanship. He takes great pride in transforming raw materials into luxury finishes, ensuring that every polished component meets the highest standards. His dedication to achieving flawless results makes him an invaluable part of the team.

Gintaras Simkus – Senior Fabricator

Gintaras joined GLF Steel in 2023, bringing with him experience from various industries. His passion for working with metal made him a perfect fit for the company. Since joining, he has contributed to the team’s ability to produce high-quality, custom fabrications with precision and skill.

Egidijus Simkus – Head of Production Planning

Before joining GLF Steel, Egidijus managed a car body repair company, gaining invaluable experience in operations, repairs and precision engineering. Since GLF Steel was founded, he has played an essential role in planning and overseeing production, ensuring efficiency and seamless workflow.

With a long-held ambition to start his own business, GLF Managing Director Martynas, alongside Egidijus, and Andrew, turned that vision into reality in December 2019 – just before the pandemic. Since then, he has built what he considers one of the best teams he’s ever worked with, taking GLF Steel from an idea to a trusted name in the industry.
